Created for Shreve, Crump and Low of Boston around 1905, this brooch is accented with 18 Old European Cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 0.5 carats. In this rear-view of the brooch you can see the exacting detail with which the design was hand-crafted in platinum. Also note the transitional clasp (on the left-hand side) which is common to jewelry created during the early decades of this century. Below is a close-up view of the hallmark, "S.C. & L. Co.". Shreve, Crump and Low, in business for over 200 years, was one of the preeminent Boston jewellers during the Age of Platinum. |
